The systematic review group is currently formed by Dr Bandera, Dr Pe and Dr Turin,
working in the Department of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Emergency at
SpedaliCivili University Hospital in Brescia.
The focus interest of the group is the methodology of scientific research: a systematic
review answers a defined research question by collecting and summarizing all
empirical evidence that fits pre-specified eligibility criteria.
We do not investigate a specific scientific field: the specific research questions vary
each time and in every research project. We conducted systematic reviews in
neuroscience phisiology, neurology, neuroradiology and neurosurgery.
At the moment we are finalising a meta-analysis investigating the association
between residual neuromuscolar block and post-operative pulmonary complications.
Considering the statistical methods used to summarize the results of the studies
included in the systematic reviews (where possible), we avail of the collaboration
with Dr Minelli (Medical Statistics, Population Health and Occupational Disease,
NHLI, Imperial College, London UK) and Dr Piva (Department of Medical and
Surgical Specialties, Radiological Sciences and Public Health, University of Brescia).
